Turning 30: Friendship could be an understatement!

I would surely not call my relationship with either of you as friendship!

"Hello, who is this?"I asked curiously picking up the call from an unknown land-line number. "Ankit" came a sharp brief reply.
"Oh, Ankit as in Ankit Kansagra?"  I exclaimed surprised. "Yes, how are you?" he said curtly.
And the memories of school days flashed. It was amazing catching up with an old school mate. I hadn't seen him for 5 years and probably never talked to him while in school. Simply because he was in section B & I was in A and hence we were meant to be competitors.

So, how did he make to my special 30 list. Because, although we had our share of rough times in the strong long years we spent as friends, we always could keep our egos aside when the other one needed us.He'd been there, quiet, strong & supportive. Even though we would fight and not talk to one another for months, we could still catch up as easily as ever.

"How dare you?" He shouted over the phone as I listened confused. "You're such a moron. How could you even dare to talk like that to someone else?"
"I didn't...." and before I could say anything else, I could hear him scream, that didn't sound like it was from some one 1500 kilometers away. And we didn't speak to each other for years, yet again.

Somehow, some relationships are not slave to communication. And we got in touch after a few years again and picked up the fight that was left unfinished. We fought it out & sorted it out and became pals yet again.

Is it just a mere co-incidence that this one special person introduced me to the other special person of my life? And the best part is, both of these special guys of my life are brothers and, not just that, they share the same birth date! But the irony is, they are, at least to me, very different.

"Bhabhi" he called out, once, twice, thrice and finally I realized that he was referring to me, since I was his brother's friend's wife. He was the first person to have ever called me bhabhi. Nishit (Raghu, as he is called lovingly)

He spent a lot more time with me than Ankit, since I was his guardian while he was doing his graduation. "When will you find me a girl friend bhabhz?" is his eternal question to me. He hated me for waking him up, sending him to college, taking him to shop for groceries BUT he adored me too for CCD treats and two dinners every night!

An adorably honest and trustworthy person that he is, Raghu has a special place in my life. He was so protective (Although I'm much elder to him) that even if he hated it, he would accompany me to every stupid place to ensure that I was safe...!

I wouldn't ever call him a friend since he's acted more like a companion, a kid, a brother, a pal and even a preacher at times. He's seen me (literally) go up and down the bumpy ride of my lfie and he's never left me alone. I wouldn't ever want to thank him, because that would give him the liberty of going away anytime :-)

Happy Birthday to both of you!

Ps. - Raghu, I''m sure would be over whlemed to find this in my blog whileAnkit wouldn't be very happy! As I said, the irony is, they are very different! And I'm stubborn!
