Freedom - Are We Really Free?

As she celebrates 67th year of being herself, being independent and republic - do the people of this motherland feel the same way? She is standing tall, beautiful and young at 67 and we, her children, are all feeble, scared and scarred. What makes us, rather, breaks us?

Let's understand what does it mean to be "REPUBLIC".

A country in which the ultimate power lies in the hand of its people who, in turn, exercise their power through the representatives elected by them. Such a country will elect a president and not a monarch

Is it wearing khadi kurta for a day or getting a temporary tattoo of the Indian flag? Is it writing "Happy Republic Day" on social networks? Is it posting pictures of India and her flag and stuff on social networks? Is it about having "Republic day dinners?" at some posh restaurants? Is it about celebrating the fact that we got to stay at home and enjoy one more holiday? NO?

India will be happy when she sees that we don't need her Independence day and Republic day as holidays, we'd rather work harder on these days to prove to her that we love her. She'd be more satisfied to see a fewer people die of hunger. She'd be proud to see her children spread her name across the globe in various fields. She'd have tears of joy to see her able children help the less fortunate. She'd be humbled by the efforts of the elite to bridge the economical gap. She'd be enlightened by the spirit with which her kids choose their representatives. She'd be more than happy to see representatives choose to behave responsibly all by themselves.

Let every child have his childhood and every senior citizen have a home! It's like a dream come true if we can achieve these two - the life cycle revolves between these two stage of life.

So now, back to the basics - are we republic? Probably not yet! India is BUT We're not! Let's keep that in mind and work harder towards achieving our own freedom ,independence and republican state of mind.

Let's not call ourselves "The 3rd world Country" OR "The upcoming super power" - both titles are equally lame. Let's just keep our eyes focused on what we must to do to the best of our ability, the rest will be taken care of all by itself.

Jay Hind - Jay Bharat
