My Darling Son Ranveer,
As you turn 3 today, let's get over with the cliché first - "How time flies, no wonder you're such a big boy now!" I realize that you were my present on your b'day 3 years ago. I never thought of what all you should know and do by the time you're this age, but, you've managed to surprise me every moment. From blabbering to saying clear long sentences & asking most complex questions, from crawling to running & jumping, from humming to singing songs & rhymes, from scribbling to writing perfect alphabets - my son, you've grown up beautifully. There may be words you still don't know, this year your knowledge will soar, you have all year to learn and grow before you have to be ready for four.
It seems like just yesterday when you were a 3 month old inside me, a 3 day old in this big bright world, 3 month old & ever smiling & suddenly you've turned 3 years old! Although you are almost 27 years younger than I am, honey, you're my teacher. People say I'm nurturing you, the fact is, you complete me. They call me an adult since I know how to behave like one, but you, my sweetheart, are truly an adult who lives his life every moment, no regrets, no grudges, with just pure love within.
Your giggle tickles me; your smile is infectious; your laughter, contagious - and you are simple adorable.
You shout & scream on top of your voice for no apparent reason, making me run around like crazy, just to enjoy the scene - but when you get hurt, you know i'll go mad, so you keep calm, wipe my tears & say, "Mom, its just a scratch & I'm a big boy. Don't worry." You smile when I'm happy & you smile to make me happy when I'm sad. You understand that my kisses & hugs to you are more for myself than you, so you make sure I neither leave nor enter the house without these warm expressions of love.
We've partied hard & danced to yo yo tunes, we've had candle light dinners, we've played at the beach, we've traveled together, we've spent time counting stars on the terrace, we've explored all that life has to offer - you're my true companion, my soul-mate! But, that wouldn't tie you from being who you are. I understand that there will be a day soon when I'll have to let you go, to let you fly to let you be there out in the wild sans me. And, trust me, I wait for that day! I'll be contended & happy to see you pave your own way through.
I hope you study hard, play harder, may you find the love of your life & have a share of heart breaks too, may you indulge in the love for food & sinfully enjoy the luxuries of life, may you make a career and not just a living, may you now the value of everything & not just the prices BUT most of all, may you know that happiness is priceless & even when you're penniless, may you be as happy as ever!
Loads of love,
Mumma
